Gunung Tujuh Lake
I will continue the story after previously making a hiking trip to Mount Kerinci. I will tell you about my trip to the highest lake in Southeast Asia, namely Gunung Tujuh Lake.
Gunung Tujuh Lake is a lake located in Kerinci Jambi Regency, precisely in Pelompek Village, Kayu Aro District. This lake is in the Gunung Tujuh area, a mountain right behind Mount Kerinci. Gunung Tujuh Lake is also still included in the Kerinci Seblat National Park area. Gunung Tujuh Lake could be considered as a tourist destination to see the natural beauty of Kerinci Regency. Apart from having stunning natural panoramas, the route is also much easier than Mount Kerinci.
I and my friend, Fajar, departed from Mak Jus basecamp which is located at the foot of Mount Kerinci using public transportation to the Gunung Tujuh Lake registration post. The price of using this public transportation can be said to be cheap, just paying IDR 10,000 can take us to the Gunung Tujuh Lake registration post. We also paid IDR 20,000 to get an entrance ticket to Gunung Tujuh Lake. Because we arrived too late in the day, we decided to take a motorbike taxi and paid IDR 15,000 to take us before Post 1.
We walked for a while to get to Post 1. It was a mess... the hiking route was immediately presented with a muddy incline, because it had rained the previous day. After walking for 30 minutes we finally arrived at Post 1.
The cereal food we brought accompanied us for a short break at Post 1. The hiking route was very busy with hikers coming down from Gunung Tujuh Lake, because yesterday was the 2020 New Year celebration. After we gathered our intention to continue the journey, we hurried to walk again. After only 60 minutes of travel, we arrived at Post 2. Without delay, we continued our journey to Post 3. At Post 3, there is a shelter where hikers can rest. There is only one descent left to arrive at the edge of Gunung Tujuh Lake.
It's amazing, the beauty of Gunung Tujuh Lake looks blue from a distance. On the edges of Gunung Tujuh Lake there are many tents for hikers who want to spend the night there. We walked along the lake looking for a place to pitch our tent. After finding a suitable place by the lake, we immediately set up the tent and started cooking dinner. After talking that evening, we decided to sleep.
I woke up just as the sun emerged from my bed. It is very beautiful to see the sun rising behind the hill and the reflection of its light hitting the lake water. Don't forget to capture this beautiful moment with a handheld camera.
After enjoying a cup of coffee and snacks in the morning, we really wanted to plunge into the water. However, because we couldn't stand the cold, we finally decided not to jump in. We took the opportunity to wash our clothes in lake water to save clean clothes that were still stored in our backpacks. After the logistical equipment was ready to be brought back, we decided to leave Gunung Tujuh Lake.
Gunung Tujuh Lake is recommended for those of you who travel to Kerinci. Either before hiking Mount Kerinci or after. You can also take a trip to Gunung Tujuh Lake to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. The most important thing is don't forget to take the rubbish down.
